Welcome to the Carilo Valves Help Center. Backed by 26 years of proven engineering excellence, we are committed to providing top-tier industrial flow control solutions. Below, you will find expert insights and detailed answers to our most frequently asked questions regarding valve technology, material selection, and international compliance.

Valve Technology & Engineering

What is the difference between metal-seated and soft-seated valves?

The choice between soft and metal seats depends largely on your operating media and temperature:

  • Soft-Seated Valves (PTFE/PEEK): Engineered to provide a “Zero-Leakage” bubble-tight shut-off, making them ideal for clean services and standard operating temperatures.
  • Metal-Seated Valves: Treated with advanced Tungsten Carbide coatings. These are designed to withstand highly abrasive media and extreme temperatures exceeding 400°C (752°F), extending service life by 40% in severe conditions.
What are Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves?

Trunnion mounted valves feature a fixed ball design mechanically anchored at the top and bottom, combined with spring-loaded seats. They are the industry standard for high-pressure (Class 600–2500) and large-bore (up to NPS 42″) applications. This structural design significantly reduces the operating torque by up to 30% compared to floating designs, ensuring safer and easier operation under extreme pressures.

How do Floating Ball Valves work?

In a floating ball design, the ball is not fixed to a bottom trunnion. Instead, it is held in place by two seats and “floats” slightly downstream under line pressure to create a reliable seal against the downstream seat. CARILO’s floating series (ranging from NPS 1/2″ to 8″) features an integral anti-blow-out stem and is structurally optimized for cost-effective, highly reliable performance in low-to-medium pressure pipelines.

What are the advantages of a Split Body Valve?

Split body (Side Entry) valves are designed for maximum accessibility, allowing for straightforward maintenance and inspection of internal components without complete pipeline removal. Our 2-piece and 3-piece bolted designs provide superior structural integrity and are fully Fire-Safe certified to API 607 and API 6FA standards.

Selection, Customization & Compliance

How do I choose the correct valve size for my pipeline?

Proper valve sizing is critical for operational efficiency and is dependent on your flow coefficient (Cv) and pipeline velocity. CARILO offers a comprehensive manufacturing range from DN15 to DN1000 (NPS 1/2″ to 42″). Our technical engineering team utilizes advanced 3D fluid simulation to ensure the selected valve size minimizes pressure drop and actively prevents cavitation.

Can your valves handle extreme cryogenic temperatures and high pressures?

Absolutely. Our valves undergo rigorous testing for Cryogenic service and high-pressure environments up to Class 2500 (6,000+ PSI). By utilizing NACE MR0175 compliant materials and Fugitive Emission Class A sealing technologies, we guarantee 100% structural integrity and operational safety in the world’s harshest industrial environments.

Do you provide custom material options for corrosive environments?

Yes. We offer holistic and bespoke engineering solutions. Our supply chain specializes in high-grade, corrosion-resistant alloys, including Carbon Steel, Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Inconel, and Titanium. Our R&D team will work closely with you during the early design stages to select the optimal material for your specific media.

What certifications and material traceability do you provide?

World-class quality is our priority. Every CARILO valve is meticulously crafted to meet API 6D, ASME B16.34, and ISO standards. Furthermore, we guarantee 100% Material Traceability (MTR). Every component delivered comes with an EN 10204 3.1 certification, ensuring total transparency and safety for your critical infrastructure.
