The choice between soft and metal seats depends largely on your operating media and temperature:

• Soft-Seated Valves (PTFE/PEEK): Engineered to provide a “Zero-Leakage” bubble-tight shut-off, making them ideal for clean services and standard operating temperatures.
• Metal-Seated Valves: Treated with advanced Tungsten Carbide coatings. These are designed to withstand highly abrasive media and extreme temperatures exceeding 400°C (752°F), extending service life by 40% in severe conditions.

Trunnion mounted valves feature a fixed ball design mechanically anchored at the top and bottom, combined with spring-loaded seats. They are the industry standard for high-pressure (Class 600–2500) and large-bore (up to NPS 42″) applications. This structural design significantly reduces the operating torque by up to 30% compared to floating designs, ensuring safer and easier operation under extreme pressures.

In a floating ball design, the ball is not fixed to a bottom trunnion. Instead, it is held in place by two seats and “floats” slightly downstream under line pressure to create a reliable seal against the downstream seat. CARILO’s floating series (ranging from NPS 1/2″ to 8″) features an integral anti-blow-out stem and is structurally optimized for cost-effective, highly reliable performance in low-to-medium pressure pipelines.

Split body (Side Entry) valves are designed for maximum accessibility, allowing for straightforward maintenance and inspection of internal components without complete pipeline removal. Our 2-piece and 3-piece bolted designs provide superior structural integrity and are fully Fire-Safe certified to API 607 and API 6FA standards.

Proper valve sizing is critical for operational efficiency and is dependent on your flow coefficient (Cv) and pipeline velocity.
